Healing ourselves becomes truly powerful when we do it with the intention of benefiting others (including our future selves). I don’t know a better way to do this than through the practice of Tonglen, from the Tibetan tradition.
In this session, we’ll focus on giving and receiving compassion by breathing in the suffering of ourselves and others, and through the power of our wisdom, we’ll transform and destroy it, breathing out relief, love, and healing. This powerful practice helps us cultivate empathy and a deep sense of interconnectedness with all beings. As we open our hearts to the pain of the world, we also expand our capacity for kindness and compassion, creating a ripple effect that benefits both ourselves and those around us.
